Dr. Bertram Amiri is a graduate of the University of California San Francisco dental school (UCSF), one of the leading dental schools in the United States, and has been in practice since 1986. The UCSF School of Dentistry is noted as "one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world" and is ranked first in research funding from the National Institute of Health.
In addition to his degree of Doctorate in Dental Surgery, Dr. Amiri also received an additional degree in Dental Bio-Sciences from UCSF. In addition, Dr. Amiri has also studied psychology and hypnotherapy which he incorporates into his dental practice.
In 2003 Dr. Amiri received a Congressional National Leadership award from the United States Congress and was named an Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council. In 2004, Dr. Amiri was invited to Washington D.C. to receive the California Businessman of the Year Award from a committee of the United States Congress. Dr. Amiri has provided input to both the White House as well as congressional committees on both business and health care issues. He has also served on the board of the California Dental Association (Policy Development Council) which represents over 26,000 dentists in California. In Addition, Dr. Amiri was most recently invited to serve on the Health Care Benefits Task Force of the California Dental Association. Dr. Amiri has also served for numerous years as the president of the Association of Managed Care Dentists. His focus in these endeavors has been improving both access to care and the quality of patient care.
Dr. Amiri's approach to dentistry is based on a patient-centered philosophy which is deeply rooted in respectful and compassionate care. He draws on a variety of disciplines including medicine, pharmacology, psychology and hypnotherapy to provide comprehensive care that takes into account the entirety of a person's needs, their past experiences and their life circumstances. His approach is geared to help patients who have had negative past experiences with dentistry. He works to regain patients' trust by providing a safe environment and an empowering experience for every person, not just those who deal with dental anxiety.
