About Us
Gentle Care Dental represents a new approach in health care, so much so that in 2003 Dr. Amiri received a Congressional National Leadership Award and was named an Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council of the United States Congress. In 2004 Dr. Amiri was invited to Washington D.C. to receive the California Businessman of the Year Award from the United States Congress and later that year he received a second award, the 2004 Pioneer in Health Care Award again from the United States Congress. He has provided input to both the White House as well as Congressional Committees on both business and health care issues. Dr. Amiri received his Doctorate degree from the nation's number one ranking dental school and in addition to his Doctorate in Dental Surgery he also received an additional degree in Dental Bio-Sciences. Dr. Amiri also studied psychology and hypnotherapy and became a board certified hypnotherapist.
Gentle Care Dental's unique approach is based on the principle that excellent, patient-centered health care can and should be made available and affordable to all segments of the population. From that philosophy, our office and our success story emerged. Today, we continue to remain dedicated to providing the best care at the lowest possible prices.
Part of what makes us different from other dental offices is that we have brought together principles and techniques from several fields including medicine, psychology, pharmacology and hypnotherapy. In developing our unique approach, Dr. Amiri has collaborated with numerous other professionals such as psychologists, physicians, pharmacists and hypnotherapists to develop approaches for pain and anxiety management, for more effective communication skills and for a more comfortable treatment experience for patients.
We help patients recover from past dental traumas, overcome their fears and regain their trust. In most dental offices, a doctor's job is to perform dental procedures. We feel this is just the beginning. In our office, we view our doctors' duties as going beyond that. Our team of doctors make it a priority to find out about not only your dental needs, but also about your concerns, your prior experiences with dentistry, your fears or anxieties, your financial concerns, your time constraints, and your physical sensitivities. They will also find out exactly what you need to feel safe, respected, and in control.
Although our fees are extremely competitive, we have not spared any expense when it comes to our patients' comfort or well being. First and perhaps most important, we have made cleanliness, sterilization and patient safety a top priority. We are absolutely meticulous about sterilization and infection control in our office and we will gladly give you a tour of our entire facility including the sterilization department so you can see for yourself the behind-the-scenes details of this critical component of our office.
After your health and safety, the next priority is your comfort. When you enter our office you experience a soothing, spa-like setting with every detail in the office design having been laid out to create a safe, comfortable atmosphere for our patients. Our staff, who receive ongoing training in communication skills and interpersonal skills, greet you with a warm welcome. Every person in the office, starting with the receptionists and the billers, treatment counselors, dental assistants and doctors are focused on you and on catering to your needs. Their goal is to find out what you need and how to make you feel as comfortable, respected and in control as possible. You and those accompanying you are invited to enjoy our drink and snack bar and to use the computer to catch up on your e-mail or surf the internet in our reception room. When you are seated in the dental chair we offer you aromatherapy to help relax you, warm blankets, dark glasses, stereo headphones and anything else you might need to feel at ease.
Throughout all your treatment you are in full control and made to feel completely respected. We will never proceed with any work until and unless you are completely at ease and we will spend as much time as is necessary to get you to feel and remain completely comfortable.
ABOUT OUR DOCTORS
At Gentle Care Dental you can be assured that you are in the best hands because we have assembled a team of top-notch dentists who have demonstrated skills that are far above their peers. Each of the dentists on our team has made it through an exhaustive search and screening process. Our criteria for selecting dentists are so high that we select on average only one out of 200 qualified licensed applicants for each of our dentist positions. We don't stop there however. Once an associate dentist is hired, he or she goes through additional training within our office to learn about the psychological, medical, medication and communication techniques that we specifically use in our office (and are not taught in dental school) to help patients have a better and more comfortable experience. This training is ongoing because we want our dentists and the rest of our staff to continue being in the forefront of patient care.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are one of the most exciting advances in cosmetic dentistry today. Applied in our Los Angeles, California, area office, porcelain veneers are thin, porcelain sheaths that are bonded permanently to the front of the tooth. Porcelain is durable and beautifully simulates the translucence and color of natural tooth enamel. Porcelain veneers can be used to conceal imperfections, close gaps between teeth, straighten the appearance of crooked teeth, and create a uniform, even smile. If you would like to improve the appearance of your smile, porcelain veneers might be just the right procedure for you. Memphis, Tennessee, area residents interested in porcelain veneers are encouraged to

Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are tooth colored caps that are molded to fit over the top of a damaged, misshapen, or badly stained tooth. The crown supports the function of the tooth and bite, and improves the appearance of the smile overall. A well-designed crown permits normal chewing, preserves tooth structure by preventing further damage to the tooth, and blends seamlessly with the appearance of surrounding teeth. Ultimately, crowns can bring natural looking symmetry and beauty to the entire smile. To find out if porcelain crowns are the right option for you, please
contact Gentle Care Dental today.
Bridges
We may recommend a dental bridge to permanently fill the gaps left by missing teeth with natural-looking artificial teeth. Bridges aid in the ability to speak and chew properly while increasing biting strength. Made of porcelain, bridges are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth. Dental bridges, are held by crowns that are placed over the teeth on both sides of the bridge and are referred to as "fixed" dentistry, as opposed to a restoration of missing teeth with a removable appliance or partial denture. Bridges are intended to permanently restore your smile. Call Gentle Care Dental today to find out if bridges are a good option for you.
Teeth Whitening
Brighten teeth that have lost their sparkle! Coffee, tea, soft drinks, tobacco, medications, and aging are just a few of the culprits that can leave behind discoloring stains on your teeth. You can have whiter, brighter teeth in just over an hour in our office with our state-of-the-art whitening process. If you prefer whitening in the privacy of your home, we will custom fit you for a tray containing whitening gel quickly and easily in your initial visit, then you will continue treatments in your home until your teeth are as bright as you want. A dazzling smile isn't just for celebrities any more. It's for you, because you're worth it. Teeth whitening at Gentle Care Dental really does work like magic. Instant Orthodontics
Having straight teeth is important for both health and appearance. But there is no need for you to spend years wearing painful metal braces and brackets. Today's modern dental technology allows us to straighten teeth in just a few weeks with customized crowns, bonding, and porcelain veneers. The aesthetic aspect is important, because having a smile you love can affect your happiness and self-esteem, whether you are an adult, a teenager, or a child. Orthodontics
Orthodontics (commonly called braces) can change and improve teeth positioning and can direct or re-direct jaw growth. It can be used to close spaces between teeth, straighten rotated or crowded teeth, correct upper or lower jaw bones that protrude out, and improve your smile, facial features and profile. In short, orthodontics can dramatically improve the appearance of the lower half of your face.
For children it is critical that they be screened every 6 months for timely detection of bone growth problems that can easily be corrected during their growing years. If not treated at these early years, a patient may need corrective surgery in adulthood. To schedule an appointment for an orthodontics screening or consultation please
contact Gentle Care Dental.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a revolutionary way to help you get even, straight teeth without noticeable, painful metal braces. Virtually undetectable, Invisalign aligners are made of strong, clear plastic that gradually guides your teeth into perfect alignment. Unlike metal braces, they have no wires or brackets on which your lips or gums can snag. Because there are no metal wires and brackets, Invisalign is comfortable. And because it is removable eating, brushing, and flossing are no problem. You can still enjoy your favorite foods and smile without holding back. With Invisalign, there's nothing to hide. Our Orthodontists make impressions of your teeth, from which Invisalign develops customized aligners that will slide directly over your teeth. Aligners are replaced every two weeks as your teeth shift into place, and they are typically worn full-time (except when eating or drinking) for 12 to 48 months - no longer than you would wear traditional metal braces. Periodontal Care
Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious medical problem that, if left untreated can cause more than just swollen, unsightly gums. It can cause loss of teeth, bone deterioration and most importantly have serious health consequences. Recent breakthroughs in medical research have discovered a strong connection between gum disease in the mouth and heart attacks, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, premature births and low birth weight. This breakthrough has vast implications for risk factors associated with these deadly diseases. It is very important that periodontal disease be detected and treated appropriately. However, since gum disease is painless, many people fail to seek treatment and their condition continues to worsen without their awareness.
Gum disease is one of the most common diseases in the United States, affecting about 80% of American adults to some degree. Thankfully, regular periodontal screenings and proper hygiene can help to control the disease without the need for more drastic treatments such as surgery. This is one of the reasons why we encourage all of our patients to schedule regular oral exams, even if they are experiencing no mouth pain at the time.
Gum disease is caused by plaque and tartar, the latter of which can only be removed through a professional cleaning by a dentist or hygienist. When left untreated, the buildup of plaque and tartar can lead to periodontitis, a disease in which the bones, gums, and other tissues that support the teeth are slowly destroyed by infection. If you consult a dentist early enough in the progression of the disease, there is an excellent chance that the infection can be controlled through deep cleaning and medication.
If you are experiencing gum pain or other signs of periodontal disease, we can help to restore health to your mouth. If your teeth and gums feel perfectly healthy, we can help to prevent the onset or the progression of gum disease through regular screenings and gentle cleanings. Please

We offer effective treatments, such as anti-microbial mouthwash and specialized soft tissue treatments, to combat bad breath and the conditions that cause it. Let us help you find the cause of your halitosis and develop an effective treatment plan.

Partial Dentures
Partial dentures, also known as removable dentures, fill in gaps in the smile caused by missing teeth. Partial dentures are custom designed to the contours of a patient's bite. Generally made from a combination of resin and metal, partial dentures are attached by discreet metal clasps or tooth-colored, precision attachments. Partial dentures restore a patient's ability to chew comfortably, protect surrounding teeth from shifting or damage, and help maintain normal facial contours in the lips and cheeks. To find out if partial dentures might be a good solution for you, please
contact Gentle Care Dental.
Full Dentures
For individuals who have lost all of their teeth, our practice offers both dental implants and full dentures as options. Full dentures are a custom-molded dental appliance that fits snugly against gums. These replacement teeth can be attached through a variety of means, including adhesives, attachment to existing tooth roots, and dental implants. They allow patients to resume normal chewing and speaking, and they restore natural contours to the jaw and face. If you have lost all or most of your teeth and would like to explore your dental options, we can help.

Night Guards/Bite Appliances
Excessive clenching, grinding, or poor bite alignment can strain your jaw joints or injure your teeth, causing discomfort and often, severe pain. Dizziness, ear pain, head and neck pain, chewing difficulties, muscle soreness, and even throat pain may surface as the condition worsens. To correct such problems, we offer a variety of fixed and removable bite appliances, including nightguards. When worn, nightguards prevent teeth from touching one another, ultimately relaxing the jaw muscles and alleviating pain. To learn more about bite appliances, please
contact our practice today.
Root Canals
Possibly the most misunderstood of all dental procedures, having a root canal is actually an extremely safe and relatively pain-free process. Each of your teeth contains a long, thin strand of pulp that extends down into the root of the tooth. When this pulp becomes inflamed or infected, the result is often searing tooth pain and, in some cases, the eventual death of the tooth. A root canal restores health to the tooth by removing the affected pulp. The canal is then filled, and the tooth is permanently sealed with an artificial crown. This procedure allows you to preserve your natural tooth, which, whenever possible, is ideal.
Extractions
In only the most extreme and necessary cases-such as when its roots are severely damaged beyond repair-we may extract a tooth in preparation for a restorative dentistry procedure, such as dentures. If you have any questions about tooth extraction, please
contact us today.
